Staying Tidy With Labels

When it comes to keeping your home clutter-free, labels are your secret weapon. Even though they may seem small, they will make a huge difference in getting—and staying—organized. The key to a professional look is to choose a labeling system and stick with it.

Are Labels Really Going to Make a Difference?

Yes! Using labels to organize your home can make a significant impact. Here’s why:

  • Efficiency - Labels make finding what you need quick and easy. No more digging through drawers for a pair of scissors or a battery.

  • Family-Friendly - Labels ensure everyone knows where things belong. Kids can easily locate their uniform without asking for help.

  • Easy Maintenance - Labels make it clear when something’s running low or when a space needs tidying.

  • Overall Order - Labels create structure, helping maintain a tidy, organized home.

Label Makers

Labels don’t need to be fancy to be effective, but if you’re in the market for a label maker, here are two great options:

  • DYMO Label Maker - Affordable, easy to use, and efficient. With limited customization, your labels will look clean and cohesive—think of it as the modern version of the old-school embossing label makers.

  • P-Touch Cube - A bit pricier, but comes with tons of features. It connects to your phone or computer, giving you endless font options and a variety of label sizes. Also, my personal favorite.

Everyday Items Can be Labels

If you’re on a budget, everyday items can double as labels. Handwrite on them, or ask a friend with beautiful handwriting to do it. Just pick a method and stay consistent:

  • Post-it Notes – Stick them on bins, boxes, or cords for a quick, temporary label.

  • Washi Tape – Use it to label jars, baskets, or drawers.

  • Chalkboard Stickers – Reusable, writable labels for containers or bins.

  • Binder Clips – Write on the clips and attach them to bags or cords for a quick label.

  • Mason Jar Lids – Label jar lids and tie them onto baskets for a creative touch.

  • Clothespins – Clip tags onto bins for a rustic, reusable option.

Getting Started

If you don’t know where to start, try your spice jars. You just might be inspired to move on to pantry bins, containers, and shelves. Clear labels make meal prep and grocery shopping so much easier. And remember there’s no wrong way to label! Whether you DIY or call in the pros, the results will be transformative.
