The Power of Editing + Implementing Organizational Systems
ESSENTIAL Steps to Stay Organized!
Editing: Most of the time, everything that comes out of a space should not all go back in! Whether the items don’t fit well within the category of other things in the space, the area will become overstuffed if everything goes back in, or simply after editing, some items that are no longer needed. Our team follows this mindset as the first way to help our clients.
We want to maximize the client’s investment in our services. That means we only want to organize the items they value, instead of everything they have accumulated. We don’t make editing decisions for our clients, but we do create an easier way for them to see what they own as part of the editing process. Often, one of our team members walks through the space with the client to gather the items they no longer need and to help with their questions. Depending on the client’s schedule, we will set up a time within the day for them to make their discard and donation decisions, or we will reach out via FaceTime if the client can’t be at home. Most of our clients are looking for our team to fulfill all aspects of organizing for them.
This includes project planning, sourcing organizing products, sorting/categorizing their items, taking away discarded and donation items, and implementing new systems to help them stay organized. Once the editing phase is completed, our team moves on to creating and implementing the organizational systems.
Implementing Organizational Systems: “A space can only hold so much to stay organized.”
Our team handles the start-to-finish process for the client. We begin project planning before we start organizing in their home. We sketch out the space, especially when organizing pantry and closet spaces, where function and aesthetics often meet. We study the photos and measurements taken during their consultation, and we use that information to source organizing products we feel will create the best systems in our clients’ homes. Depending on the client’s budget, we can source organizing
products from any vendor. The right organizing products are essential to create the right elements for an organizational system. Without this step, we find that only a good edit has occurred, and the space will not stay organized over time.
On the day of organizing, we bring the organizing products we need with us. If a client has existing organizing products, we will make sure those products fit the needs and function of the space before considering them in our updated plan. Our sweet spot is implementing sustainable organizing solutions that feel aesthetically pleasing. This holds especially true for spaces clients use every day, such as kitchens, pantries, and closets. Our team is creating the foundation of new daily habits for our clients. If a space feels calm, balanced, and pleasing to the eye, there is an added level of desire to keep it that way. A beautifully organized space is the best feeling!
