Tidy Butterfly LLC Celebrates Two Year Anniversary and is Flying High
Do you ever remember a day so vividly that it seems etched in your mind? You remember what you were wearing, the weather and exactly what you were feeling. Two years ago in April, I was a hot mess of emotions as I dropped off my computer equipment and swiped my badge for the last time at my corporate job of 10 years.
Earlier that week, I had a panic attack. I’ve had them before and remembered it was always during intense stress. Each time, I’m sure that I am in fact having a heart attack. This time I was frantically trying to close-out projects, finalize documentation, answer emails and not forget anything while also feeling like I was just over it. I didn’t have any more hustle and bustle in me. I wondered if I was freaking out because I was leaving my financially secure job or because I was starting something new. Was I making a mistake or making a new life for myself?
I got through that last work week checking things off my To-Do list to the bitter end and I vividly remember how bittersweet it was when it all ended on Friday, March 31. Now what? Now it’s time to be the boss and change my focus from project management to small business management. It was terrifying and exciting all in the same breath. (I was back to breathing at this point.)
My first official day as a full-time professional organizer for my business, Tidy Butterfly, LLC, began on April 1. It was no joke that this is one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I’ve been reflecting on the past two years and how much I’ve learned and what I’ll do differently this year. Here are my three takeaways:
1. It’s okay to make less money for more freedom.
2. You can do it afraid and survive.
3. God puts people in your path to help, encourage and love you so you can grow and help others.
I'm a professional organizer who specializes in helping seniors and empty nesters downsize and empowering them to keep the items they love and use with confidence and grace. Some of my best referrals come from family members who hire my help to help their mother, sister or best friend with a project in their home.
I've met some amazing people and have enjoyed the time I've spent in people's homes. Cheers to celebrating two years of home organization!
If decluttering is on your To-Do list, and you live in the Des Moines metro, I'd love to help you! I work together with you to address your situation, talk about your goals and then make a plan. To get started, visit my website and schedule a call to see how I can help you organize your home.
Be on the look-out for more of Tidy Butterfly in 2024! I’m planning a few library presentations in a town near you and I’m studying to become a certified clutter coach with Denise Linn, a best-selling author and feng shui coach.
