An Organizers Take on Transitions…

My name is Amber Tice. I am the owner of Amber’s Home Organization and I absolutely LOVE what I do! The past month or so has been a little rough because I have put my business on a bit of a pause. My family was going through a big life transition, moving into a home we have been renovating for the past 4 months! We sold our house, moved into my mom’s basement during the renovations and then it came time to move into the new house. This was a lot of change and transition in a short amount of time. Our belongings were in multiple places and even though I was as organized as I could be, things still felt hectic.  I’m so thankful for amazing clients who are so understanding and supportive of the decision I made to pause during that time. I like to think I can do it all - however, in reality I can’t; and thinking that I can is an unhealthy mentality. It’s tough taking the time for myself to get my family moved in and feeling settled, but I knew it was the right decision. I learned a few years ago to trust my gut and what my intuition is telling me, and I’ve never regretted making decisions based on that.

It’s easy in our society to see successful people as “busy people.” However, if you look closer at some people and their level of success in life, is success measured in “business?” As I navigate my own idea of success, I am starting to realize that for me, it looks different than I’ve thought in the past. Part of being successful to me is knowing when to put a pause on an area of my life to focus on a different area that I value highly. That area for me is my family that I value so highly. I feel most successful when my family is cared for and in a good place. In addition, I am a better organizer for my clients when my life is in order (as much as possible lol). I will never take for granted being able to take the time that I need to care for my family as a business owner. I’m grateful to be a professional organizer and assist my clients as much as I can. I missed my clients during the break because I love what I do. The saying is true, “do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Stay tuned for my upcoming mid-April blog, where I’ll be discussing how I downsized my family of 5 into a home that is 700 sq ft less than what we had before. There were lots of lessons learned and tips to owning less and gaining freedom from your stuff!

Do you have an interesting story about your move? Le us know, we love to hear your feedback!
