Tips to Stay Organized at the Office

With deadlines, responsibilities, and last minute projects in the office- being organized in the workplace can feel like a last minute thought. However, staying on top of and keeping a few small areas organized will save you time and money! 

Simple and Easy Tips to stay organized at the office:

-Color code your calendar

Keep track of personal, work meetings, appointments, travel, deadlines, priority list, etc with different colors for each so you can see at a quick glance what you have for the day, week, or month!

-Create folders in your email

Use folders to keep important emails out of your main email inbox but have them readily available when they are needed in the future. This is great if you have ongoing projects or waiting for others' responses!

-Create labels so everyone knows where to put new/old supplies 

This is so simple, but will make a world of difference! Take it to the next level with alphabetizing or using numeric order when necessary!

-Put like items together

This takes the guesswork out of finding items for a project for example: Tissues next to cleaning products, paper next to folders, pens next to markers, reams of paper next to printer, etc

-Go electronic! 

This saves so much time and reduces the amount of paper clutter that you have to put away and file. Plus it’s a win for the environment! 

-Have a visual calendar above your computer so you can see the current and upcoming month

Keep this physical calendar broad with travel, big deadlines, big meetings, etc. then all your daily meetings, appointments, and smaller personal tasks can be on your daily calendar. Use the physical calendar as a quick glance so you know what is coming up, NOT your to-do list. 

-Have supplies visible and out of boxes so you can easily see what you have at a quick glance 

Unboxing items from their packaging is easier to store and see when you need to reorder supplies! 

-Keep your junk email and spam folder cleaned out 

Doing this will make the unread email count at the beginning of the day a little easier to handle! Plus, one less email to read- so who doesn’t love that!?
